The global esports brand WCG (World Cyber Games) announced that the Testerhoon Team, comprised of GainPot, Thal, and Jaewon Cho, claimed the championship title at the WCG 2025 National Showdown Korea: Creator Rumble (hereinafter referred to as “National Showdown Korea”). The event was co-hosted by Busan Metropolitan Government, co-organized by the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (President: Kim Taeyeol), and sponsored by Smilegate. TesterHoon’s squad triumphed over seven rival teams to take the top spot.

With a total prize pool of 30 million KRW, the competition took place over two days—August 16 and 23. The National Showdown Korea brought together 32 popular creators, including captains TesterHoon, Esca, MadLife, Bonghoon, Danuri, Daeseng, Cutedragon, and Kane. Divided into eight teams, they faced off in ‘Creator Rumble,’ WCG’s self-developed board game, across six rounds (three in the first half and three in the second half).

The second half of the tournament, held on August 23 at the Busan Esports Arena, featured three events: Spot the Diff 3D, Web Game 4-in-Relay, and Party Animals.

The opening round, Spot the Diff 3D, challenged players to rotate 3D maps and identify subtle differences. Kane’s team claimed victory with a “magic eye” strategy that quickly spotted discrepancies.

In the fourth round, a Creator Rumble dice roll, Kane’s team employed a “power dice” strategy (featuring only high numbers) to advance 12 spaces, tying TesterHoon’s team—leaders from the first half—at the 40th tile.

The fifth round, Web Game 4-in-Relay, required each of the four team members to complete one mini-game: Walk the Stork, Slither.io, Fruit Box Game, and TETR.io. Teams advanced only by clearing each game sequentially, restarting from the beginning upon failure. Kane’s team posted the fastest completion time (10:19), marking their second consecutive round win.

However, in the dice roll that followed, Kane’s team chose a “control dice” with lower numbers and advanced to tile 46. TesterHoon’s team opted for the power dice and surged to tile 50, reclaiming sole possession of the lead.

The final round, Party Animals, pitted one representative from each team in a brawl, controlling animal characters to knock others out of the arena. TesterHoon’s team secured nine victory crowns, clinching the win. In the last dice roll, they landed on tile 59, finishing six spaces ahead of Esca’s team and seizing the championship. TesterHoon’s squad walked away with 14.1 million KRW in cumulative prize money.

Champion TesterHoon  commented “After winning at last year’s WCG 2024 Festival, I set my sights on victory again. Thanks to the strong performance of my teammates, I was able to play without much pressure. Most importantly, the fans who came all the way to Busan are the true MVPs.”

In addition, WCG’s official community, Smilegate’s global social platform STOVE, hosted a special awards program. Extra prize money was distributed based on each team’s STOVE Lounge follower count and user engagement. Kane’s team won both categories, earning an additional 4 million KRW.

Tae-Yeol Kim, President of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, remarked “It was meaningful to see Korea’s top creators compete and interact with fans here in Busan. We will continue to work so that Busan becomes firmly established as a central hub for esports through global events like WCG.”

Kyungjun Min, Head of WCG, added “The tournament delivered countless unexpected highlights and dramatic turnarounds. The passion of Korean creators and the enthusiastic support of the fans reaffirmed the potential of creator-driven gaming content. Building on this success, we plan to showcase even more diverse competitions on the global stage.”
