The champion of the “WCG 2025 National Showdown Korea: Creator Rumble” (hereinafter referred to as “National Showdown Korea”) will soon be decided.
Global esports brand WCG (World Cyber Games) announced that the second half of National Showdown Korea, co-hosted with Busan Metropolitan Government, co-organized by the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (President: Kim Tae-yeol), and sponsored by Smilegate, will take place on August 23 at the Busan Esports Arena.
Featuring a total prize pool of 30 million KRW, National Showdown Korea brings together 32 of Korea’s most popular creators, divided into eight teams, to compete in “Creator Rumble”, a board game developed in-house by WCG. The tournament is structured with three rounds in the first half and three in the second half, for a total of six rounds.
In the first half, held on August 16, team leaders including Tester Hoon, EscA, MadLife, Bonghoon Yoo, Danuri, Seungjoo Byun, AegyoYong, and Kane led their squads in competitions across titles such as “Pushing it! Together – Sisyphus Co-op”, “PICO PARK 2”, and “Moving Out 2”.
The first round, “Pushing it! Together – Sisyphus Co-op”, was a cooperative game in which teams worked together to roll a boulder as high up the mountain as possible. In a dramatic comeback, Team EscA surged in the final moments to reach 621 meters, leaping from fifth place to first.
The second round featured “PICO PARK 2”, a cooperative puzzle game where victory went to the team that cleared the most stages within 50 minutes. Team Kane emerged victorious, conquering 29 stages in total.
The final round of the first half was contested in “Moving Out 2”, where teams competed to complete moving and organizing missions in the shortest time possible. Team Kane initially took the lead with a steady strategy, clocking in at 18 minutes 40 seconds. However, Team MadLife utilized a “retry” option and pulled off a narrow victory with a time of 18 minutes 39 seconds, edging out Kane’s team by just one second.
Following each round, the Creator Rumble dice rolls took place. Team Tester Hoon advanced to the 19th square with a combination of two Power Dice, and later reached the 30th square with a roll of 11 in the third round. With this, they finished the first half at the top of the standings.
After securing first place in the first half, Team Leader Tester Hoon said, “The reason we were able to finish on top in the first half is thanks to our viewers and teammates who joined us today. This is my second time appearing in WCG Creator Rumble, and I promise our team will take the championship this year as well, so please look forward to the second half.”
The second half of National Showdown Korea, where the ultimate champion will be decided, will take place on August 23 at the Busan e-sports Arena, featuring matches in “Spot the Diff 3D”, a Web Game 4-title Relay, and “Party Animals”.
Tae-Yeol Kim, President of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, which co-organized the event, stated, “It is meaningful not only to host events with professional esports players, but also to prepare and hold broad-ranging esports festivals like WCG. We will continue to work toward revitalizing esports activities across a wide range of titles showcased by many famous influencers.”
Tickets for the offline matches of the second half are available through NOL Ticket (Interpark Ticket). On STOVE, Smilegate’s global social platform and WCG’s official community hub, various interactive events such as match predictions are being held. In particular, a special event is underway where an additional prize pool of 4 million KRW will be awarded to the supporters of each team based on the number of followers and user activity in their dedicated STOVE Lounges.
Meanwhile, National Showdown Korea can be viewed live on WCG’s official YouTube, SOOP, and Chzzk channels. Further details, including participating creators and broadcast schedules, are available on the official website.
