The first official event of WCG 2025, the global esports brand World Cyber Games, will take place in Busan, South Korea.
Bigpicture Interactive (CEO: Kwangjun Song), a leading esports company, announced that the “WCG 2025 National Showdown Korea Creator Rumble Busan” (hereinafter referred to as “National Showdown Korea”) will be held this August in Busan. The event is co-hosted by the Busan Metropolitan Government, co-organized by the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, and sponsored by Smilegate.
Bringing together 40 prominent Korean creators, National Showdown Korea will be based on WCG’s proprietary board game format known as “Creator Rumble.” The competition will unfold both online and offline.
In Creator Rumble, teams of four creators complete various game missions, earning dice rolls along the way. The team that advances closest to the final tile on the board wins the match. The format combines elements of skill, strategy, and luck to deliver a thrilling viewer experience.
The grand final of National Showdown Korea will be held at the Busan e-Sports Arena, featuring a livestream for online audiences, on-site events for in-person visitors, and interactive booths to engage fans across all channels.
Smilegate will join WCG 2025 as the Founding Sponsor, and recruitment for official partners is currently underway. Notably, STOVE, the global social platform operated by Smilegate, will serve as the official community platform for WCG 2025. Starting in June, STOVE and WCG will co-host a series of interactive events to connect users worldwide.
Kyungjun Min, Head of WCG, commented, “Following the success of Creator Rumble in 2024, we have decided to expand the event globally, with national editions hosted in various countries. We are excited to unveil a new and upgraded version of Creator Rumble in Busan this year.”
Creator Rumble was first introduced at the WCG 2024 Festival, where 60 global creators gathered in Jakarta, Indonesia to compete for a grand prize pool of KRW 60 million. The Korean team, led by “Tester Hoon,” ultimately claimed the championship title.
The WCG 2025 National Showdown will begin with National Showdown Korea this August, followed by editions in India, the Philippines, and more. Further details will be announced on the official WCG website.
