WCG 2009 Chengdu was held at the Century City Convention Center in Chengdu, China, with more than 600 Esports athletes from 70 countries. 11 games were selected as official events, including PC game 'Track Mania' and Mobile game 'Wise Star'.

Poland reclaimed their Counter Strike champion medal in three years and was named to the Hall of Famer. Ki-Pyo Kang and Seung-ryul Kim of South Korea also named as WCG Hall of Famer with two consecutive 'Red Stone' golds.
The South Korea won their fifth WCG championship title with total of eight medals, the highest ever.
