Los Angeles, CA October 4, 2010 – The World Cyber Games (WCG) 2010 Grand Final came to a close at the Los Angeles Convention Center in California overnight. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the World Cyber Games, the world's largest computer and video game festival, celebrating the best in gaming.

The WCG 2010 Grand Final proved to be one of the organization's most-watched events to date. 32,000 spectators watched the tournament at the Los Angeles Convention Center with tens of millions of viewers watching the games live via the Internet at live.wcg.com, and on official partner IGN's premium gaming site www.ign.com. The WCG 2010 Grand Final was also broadcasted in eight countries, including China, Germany, and Russia. 400 international media representatives attended the event, which saw 450 players from 58 countries battle it out for more than $250,000 in cash and prizes.

After a hard fought WCG 2010 Grand Final tournament, South Korea took home first overall place with 3 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals. Countries Brazil, United Kingdom and Germany tied second with 1 gold and 1 silver each and Teams Australia, Ukraine, Sweden and the United States tied third with 1 gold medal each.

Last night at 7:00PM PT, the WCG 2010 Grand Final came to a spectacular close on the Main Stage of the LA Convention Center, with a Closing Ceremony featuring a medal ceremony for each of the winners that was hosted by entertainment star Cory Almeida.

Thanks to Samsung, the worldwide partner of World Cyber Games, the 2010 Grand Final was the ‘greenest Grand Final ever.' Samsung purchased carbon offsets from Carbonfund.org to offset everything from the electricity used at the tournament to the airline emissions of the players traveling from all over the globe. During the WCG Closing Ceremony, Samsung was presented with the first Corporate Climate Leadership Award by Carbonfund.org in recognition of their environmental programs.

Today, the Los Angeles County Education Foundation will take delivery of more than $120,000 worth of Samsung SyncMaster monitors, a donation from the World Cyber Games, to enhance classrooms and after-school programs, and encourage the use and development of technology in education throughout the state.
The WCG 2010 Grand Final also included the live taping of WCG's Ultimate Gamer Season 2 finale which will air at 11:00PM this Thursday, October 7. Tune in to watch the dramatic climax, and find out who is this year's WCG Ultimate Gamer. The winner will take home the Ultimate Samsung Package and $100,000 in cash.
